The Only Constant-Change

Just when I think things are settling into a steady rhythm, something happens to spoil the comfort zone. Oh well, that’s the way it goes.

This week I’m hoping to get through the better part of my edits for “Not Too Late Forever”, my first book. Xandra is getting nice comments in the dimensions she has come to. At least that is what most of my critiques have said.

This last week, I have come to believe that I write Literary Science Fiction, if there is such a thing. Either way, my stories are character driven with plot involved. That’s what I like to read, so that’s what I  want to write. I thoroughly enjoy the interaction I have with my characters.

This week in the morning I’m working to understand the story for #siwc17 contest better. In the afternoon, I’ll work on the edit of “Not Too Late Forever”. In the evening, I’ll work on “Misty’s Magical Shed”.

So much to do and filter in-between life’s events. That’s what makes things exciting. I’ll never say that life is boring.

Keep the coffee flowing.

Respectfully submitted,

Jodi

Doin’ The Best I Can

So much happened last week, some I can share, some I can’t. The first thing is that both my Acer notebooks stopped working. Luckily and thanks to Microsoft, I got one back. Well mostly, I am able to keep up with my writing.

It’s kinda nice to have a computer when I’m working on three different projects between my day jobs and community activities. One of these is currently in slow motion, because the deadline is a little time away. Of the other two, one is in the polishing stage and the other is in the first draft stage. I know this is not really a great way to go, but until I have real deadlines, its what my brain lets me do.

In the mean time I work my day jobs and participate in the community. It’s a great way to go.

Keep the coffee flowin’.

Another Week in the Life of a Writer

There are some who would say that I’m not really a writer. I haven’t published, whether traditional or self, any thing yet. That last “yet” is what keeps me going. I have endured rejection, but I have enjoyed praise, as well.

Yes, I dream , as does every other writer/author, that someday, in the very near future, I will be discovered. That will make me an overnight success that took at least ten years to accomplish.

Ten years writing and polishing the same book. That’s the height of stubborn determination. I’ve read and heard that every writer should set aside their first book and start a second and even third.

I’ve done that too, but I keep coming back to the first. There’s something about the world and universe of Naldo, that won’t let go. Whether I relive “The Legend of The Two Sisters” or visit Mt. H’Olenberg, I am submersed in characters and cultures that continue to grow in my mind.

My greatest joy would be to share all of it with more of my friends. I say more, because I’ve already shared (over and over again) with my writers’ group.

It’s interesting to look back over the years. Each character started out so different than they are now. I expect there are still some changes ahead.

That being said, I guess that I should get back to the polishing..

Until next week keep the coffee flowing.

Jodi

Every week from 8:00pm until 9:00pm I count the time for my friends on @Facebook and @Twitter. Together, we dedicate sixty minutes to The Creative Hour. I work on my writing. Others work on music, art or whatever #yourcreativepassion is.

Tonight I’m using my time to work on the latest edit of “Not Too Late Forever”. I have learned so much since I started. There is always so much more to learn.

If you would like to join me, please do. Until next week, I’m going back to my writing. I hope you have found your creative passion.

Keep the coffee flowing.
