I made it to Surrey, wohoo! It was an experience.
The folks here are awesome. I took the mass transit to get to my hotel. Wow, over an hour. I just asked questions.
This afternoon I have a master class with Robert Dugoni. A master class is a 3 hour class to learn something, that will help me with my writing. I couldn’t pick a better teacher to learn from. He inspires the whole conference.
First I need to go down and sign into get my conference materials.
I’ll report back here tonight.
October 10/24/2013 pm
Robert Dugoni put on a great workshop. Lots of good information to work with. (Boy it’s fun to put a preposition at the end of a sentence, lol) Anyway, back on track, the workshop was Power Editing. It started off with an SFD (shitty first draft). He writes the way I do, by the seat of the pants. Now if I could become as successful. Well that’s what I’m working toward.
After the SFD is complete, the real work begins, the dreaded edit. I’ve had some experience with that, but not to the extent he described. I have a good 26 pages of notes to go through after the conference.
Now I have to prepare for the pitch I have tomorrow. I need to work through what I’ve worked up and get it memorized, at least better than I have it right now.
One good thing, I get the pitch and blue pencil completed tomorrow. What three pages I’ll take to the blue pencil, I haven’t decided yet. Well for now I need to practice. More later.
