Memories of a dead world worked to erase the beauty of the planet that lay before her. Xandra M’Ren fought, without success, against the nightmare. It returned again and again to remind her of all she’d lost, each time she closed her eyes.
“Alexandra where are you? Come to me.” Sweet and low, JasHaarr’s voice called from tall windowless buildings. “Alexandra I’m here.” Love flowed and caressed with a soft whisper.
Her heart ached. “JasHaarr! JasHaarr! Where are you?” she screamed. Hollow and empty, the sound echoed through once life filled streets.
This time I’ll find him, find him before it’s too late.
The force of JasHaarr’s voice tugged at her. “Alexandra… Alexandra…”
Despite the longing something held her back. She tried to get away, to go after her love. A firm grip kept her in place.
“Xandy, wake up.” A strong male voice soothed with her childhood nickname as it broke through the fog of her dream. “Xandy wake up, now.”
She opened her eyes. Belted in by a safety harness, she struggled to get free. It did no good, besides JasHaarr was gone. There was only one way to be with him now. Am I ready for that? she wondered.
