Another Day in Paradise

Many of the things in my life have remained the same. I have a day job at an essential service, banking. It has been interesting and I enjoy working to help folks keep somethings on a more even keel.

Even though somethings remain real and comfortable, somethings must change. Meetings, even in small groups will not be happening for a long time. One thing we can do, and I’ve been lucky enough to participate in a few, are video meetings. The local Chamber of Commerce has held some and my critique group is starting to participate with a weekly one as well.

For me, I believe it’s a little more usual than for others because I still have my regular job and do get out of the house, at least to a degree of what I am used to. I just need to work on my concentration for the edit of my book. With the new zoom meetings, I should be able to move through the current edit of my critique group, then move on to fleshing out Book 2.

In the meantime, keep the wine and coffee flowing.

Respectfully submitted,

Morning Walk

jet-trailThis morning I saw a jet trail high in the sky. Is there a writer on board, heading off to Los Angles or New York to sign the contract with their agent? What do they write? Could it be Soft Science Fiction with elements of Romance like me? So many questions to bolster the dream. It’s great to imagine that that could be me in the very near future.

I’m getting close

I am getting closer to the end of this edit of my book, “Not Too Late Forever”. Then it will be time to send it off to the agent I talked to to at the Surrey International Writers’ Conference, Laurie McLean. This is exciting and scary at the same time. Is it good enough this time? I don’t know. I believe in it, but it’s up to someone else’s judgement as to its value. Once I send it off this time, I will start the work on my 2nd book, “Naldo Calls”.

If not for my writing, I would not understand the fulfillment I have when I work on my stories. I have always written, mostly short stories. Now I have a book of over 107 thousand words. It is an amazing feeling to listen to the characters and write their story.

Whatever happens with this submission of my first book, I will continue to write. The experience is amazing.

Working on my 1st book

All this month I need to work on the edit of my first book. It is not the first edit. As a matter of fact it is closer to the seventh or eighth edit. I’ve lost track. Each time I start a new edit, it is an amazing experience. This edit needs to be done by the end of the year. As of now, I have not made the progress I need, but each time I sit down to work on it, my characters open to me. It is my greatest hope that readers will like and dislike them enough to read through to the end, and want more.
